Blockratize, la société mère de la plateforme de prédiction de cryptomonnaies Polymarket, a déposé des demandes de marque aux États-Unis pour les termes « POLY » et « $POLY ».
Ces démarches sont considérées comme une étape importante dans la formalisation du processus juridique lié aux projets déjà annoncés de l’entreprise, visant à émettre un token natif POLY et à organiser un airdrop.
Selon les registres de l’USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office), les demandes déposées le 4 février sont devenues visibles dans le système plus tôt cette semaine. Les dossiers sont actuellement classés comme « actifs » et « en attente d’examen ». L’USPTO précise que les demandes remplissent les exigences minimales mais n’ont pas encore été attribuées à un examinateur.
Les demandes couvrent un large éventail de catégories, notamment les logiciels téléchargeables pour la finance et le trading de cryptomonnaies, les services liés aux tokens numériques et aux cryptomonnaies, ainsi que les services de plateforme pour l’infrastructure des transactions électroniques et du clearing. Les deux demandes ont été faites sur la base d’une « intention d’utilisation », ce qui indique que les marques ne sont pas encore utilisées commercialement de façon active.
Cette démarche constitue un signal légal formel concernant les projets tant attendus de lancement de token par Polymarket. En octobre, le directeur marketing de la société, Matthew Modabber, avait confirmé le lancement d’un token natif POLY, qui serait soutenu par un airdrop. Le fondateur Shayne Coplan avait également laissé entendre à plusieurs reprises l’existence de ce projet de token.
