Report: U.S. SEC implements 46 cryptocurrency-related enforcement actions in 2023
Cornerstone Research, Golden Finance reported that the US SEC implemented 46 enforcement actions related to cryptocurrency in 2023. Since 2013, the agency has taken a total of 173 enforcement actions against cryptocurrency entities, reaching a new high in 2023.
The report found that the SEC only filed 30 cryptocurrency-related lawsuits in 2022, so the increase in 2023 was over 50%, with 61% of the lawsuits alleging violations of securities laws and 57% alleging fraud under the Securities or Exchange Act.
