Senator Lummis Criticizes SEC Crypto Enforcement Strategy, Calls for Congressional Action
In a recent interview with CNBC channel Squawk Box on September 28, Senator Cynthia Lummis (D-Calif.) warned that the United States is lagging behind when it comes to the regulation of digital assets, especially when compared to the European Union. “The EU is ahead of us,” Lummis said, and emphasized the importance of the U.S. taking the lead on financial services and digital asset regulation. She went on to criticize the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) heavy-handed enforcement tactics, especially under Chairman Gary Gensler. (dlnews)
