Google rescinds pledge not to use AI for weapons, surveillance
According to a report by The Information, Google has officially ended its six-year-old policy of not using artificial intelligence for weapons or surveillance. According to Google's latest policy, the company will use AI responsibly by "implementing appropriate human supervision, due diligence, and feedback mechanisms" to comply with user goals, social responsibility, and widely accepted international law and human rights principles. James Manyika, Senior Vice President of Google Research, and Demis Hassabis, Head of AI, wrote in an article that democratic countries should lead the development of AI under the guidance of core values. It is worth noting that OpenAI also made a similar policy adjustment last year.
