The Canadian British Columbia court upholds the restriction on Bitcoin mining power
According to The Miner Mag, the Court of Appeal in British Columbia, Canada has upheld the provincial government's decision to limit electricity usage for Bitcoin mining operations, rejecting an attempt by Bitcoin mining hosting service provider Conifex Timber to secure unlimited power. The court sided with BC Hydro (British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority), emphasizing its priority to consider public interest, protect the province's power supply and prevent consumer electricity prices from rising. Concerns about the impact of cryptocurrency mining on energy consumption have led several Canadian provinces to impose restrictions on this industry.
