US Media: Putin Reportedly Willing to Agree to Ceasefire in Exchange for Eastern Ukrainian Territories
According to a report by Jinse Finance, citing The Wall Street Journal, European and Ukrainian officials have revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin presented a comprehensive proposal to the Trump administration this week regarding a ceasefire in Ukraine. The proposal demands significant territorial concessions from Ukraine and seeks global recognition of Russia’s claims in exchange for halting military operations. European officials have expressed serious concerns about the proposal, as it would require Ukraine to cede its eastern regions, including Donbas, while Russia offers little in return beyond stopping military action. After Putin conveyed this proposal to U.S. Middle East envoy Wietkoff in Moscow on Wednesday, it triggered urgent diplomatic consultations. This week, European and Ukrainian officials stated they fear Putin is merely using the proposal as a tactic to avoid impending new U.S. sanctions and tariff penalties.
