South Korean Actress Hwang Jung-eum Sentenced to Three Years in Prison for Misappropriating Company Funds to Invest in Cryptocurrency
According to a report by Jinse Finance citing Yonhap News Agency, South Korean actress Hwang Jung-eum (transliteration), who was prosecuted for allegedly embezzling 4.2 billion KRW (approximately 3.07 million USD) from her company and investing the funds in cryptocurrency, has been sentenced to three years in prison following a sentencing hearing at the Jeju District Court. Previously, around 2022, Hwang Jung-eum was accused of siphoning 4.34 billion KRW from Hunminjeongeum Entertainment and investing 4.2 billion KRW of that amount in cryptocurrency, in violation of the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes (embezzlement of public funds).
