Goldman Sachs analysis shows U.S. initial jobless claims slightly increased to 224,000.
BlockBeats News, October 3, Goldman Sachs' analysis of state unemployment claims data shows that U.S. unemployment claims saw a slight increase last week. This analysis is based on data released by states during the federal government shutdown. In a report to clients, Goldman Sachs economists including Jan Hatzius pointed out that for the week ending September 27, initial jobless claims rose to about 224,000, higher than the 218,000 reported by the government in the previous period.
The bank adjusted the existing state-level raw data using the seasonal factors pre-released by the Department of Labor. Due to the government shutdown, the Department of Labor did not release its weekly report on Thursday, but did provide downloadable data for most states. The September employment report, originally scheduled for release earlier on Friday, has also been postponed. (Zhitong Finance)
