WeChat Security Center: Beware of pyramid schemes and scams disguised as blockchain cryptocurrencies or stablecoins.
On November 17, the WeChat Security Center issued a statement saying, "Recently, we have received user complaints that some WeChat accounts are involved in organizing pyramid schemes, fraud, and other illegal activities within WeChat groups. These activities use the pretext of ethnic asset unfreezing, national policies and engineering projects, as well as blockchain virtual currencies, stablecoins, and other names, using high returns as bait to lure users to join WeChat groups. Inside the groups, users are encouraged to invite others, post unknown links to guide downloading fraudulent apps, conduct daily check-ins, meetings, courses, and other brainwashing activities, ultimately committing fraud. These actions seriously infringe upon users' property rights.
Once such behavior is discovered and verified, the platform will, according to relevant national laws and regulations as well as the "Tencent WeChat Software License and Service Agreement," "WeChat Personal Account Usage Rules," and other platform agreements and rules, implement tiered penalties on the related accounts based on the severity of the violations. Multiple violations may result in permanent login restrictions. For confirmed violating WeChat groups, group functions will be disabled."
