YouTube launches stablecoin payment feature; creators can receive PYUSD via PayPal.
according to Fortune, YouTube has launched a new feature for U.S. creators to receive stablecoin payments through PayPal. PayPal cryptocurrency head May Zabaneh confirmed that creators can now choose to receive platform revenue shares in the form of PayPal stablecoin PYUSD, and this feature is currently only available to U.S. users.
YouTube was already a client of PayPal's payment services, using it to provide payment services for gig workers and contractors for large enterprises. At the beginning of the third quarter of this year, PayPal added the ability for its payment recipients to receive payments in PYUSD, and subsequently YouTube decided to offer this option to creators.
Zabaneh stated: "Our advantage is that YouTube does not need to directly handle cryptocurrency, we help eliminate this complexity."
