Spain: The number of unemployed decreased by 16,291 individuals in December
Unemployment Continues to Decline in December 2025
At the close of December 2025, the State Public Employment Service (SEPE) reported a reduction of 16,291 individuals on the unemployment register compared to the previous month, marking a 0.67% drop. This brings the total number of registered unemployed to 2,408,670.
Looking at the annual figures, unemployment has fallen by 152,048 people, representing a 5.94% decrease. This marks the 56th consecutive month of year-on-year improvement.
Sector-Specific Unemployment Trends
- The Services sector experienced a decrease of 14,287 unemployed individuals, a reduction of 0.81%.
- Unemployment in Agriculture dropped by 1,531 people, or 2.03%.
- There was also a decline among those seeking their first job.
