Lithuania Nominates Rimantas Šadžius for ECB Vice President Role
The Lithuanian Ministry of Finance has officially announced its nomination of Rimantas Šadžius, a former finance minister who served three terms, as their candidate to replace European Central Bank Vice President Luis de Guindos. This confirmation aligns with earlier reports from Econostream dated December 18.
Finance Minister Kristupas Vaitiekūnas highlighted Šadžius's extensive background, particularly his leadership during Lithuania's adoption of the euro in 2015, stating that such expertise is highly valuable and should benefit the broader European community. The ministry's press release also emphasized the significance of this nomination at the European level.
