Wheat Prices Surge on Wednesday

Wheat Markets Climb Across All Major Exchanges

Wheat futures experienced notable gains on Wednesday, with each of the three main exchanges ending the day higher. Chicago SRW contracts advanced by 6 to 8 cents, while Kansas City HRW futures saw front-month prices increase by 10 cents. Meanwhile, Minneapolis spring wheat rose between 3 and 4 cents during the session.

Upcoming Export Sales Report

The latest export sales figures for the week of January 1 are scheduled for release on Thursday morning. Market analysts anticipate that wheat sales for the 2025/26 marketing year will range from 200,000 to 500,000 metric tons. For the 2026/27 period, expectations are between zero and 100,000 metric tons.

USDA Winter Wheat Acreage Report Preview

The USDA is set to publish its Winter Wheat Seedings report on Monday. According to a Bloomberg survey, analysts expect total winter wheat plantings to reach 32.4 million acres. Of this, HRW is projected at 23 million acres, SRW at 5.9 million acres, and white wheat at 3.5 million acres.

China’s Winter Wheat Crop Update

China’s Vice Premier reported overnight that the country’s winter wheat acreage remains stable, although some regions are experiencing less favorable planting conditions.
