New Cryptocurrency Features Coming to X (Twitter)! Here’s What You Absolutely Need to Know

Nikita Bier, X’s Product Director, announced a new feature on the platform that will fundamentally change how finance and cryptocurrencies are tracked.

Accordingly, X is working on “Smart Cashtags,” which will allow users to tag a specific asset or a smart contract directly in their posts.

According to Bier, when users tap on a tag in their timeline for posts using Smart Cashtag, they will be able to see the real-time price of that asset and all related posts on X in a single screen. Thus, cashtags will cease to be merely symbolic labels and will transform into a financial tool that directly provides data and context.

Nikita Bier also highlighted X’s influence in the financial world, stating that the platform is “one of the most powerful sources for financial news” and that hundreds of billions of dollars worth of positions are taken based on the content read there. The new system aims to prevent incorrect asset matches and symbol confusion.

Bier also stated that while the Smart Cashtag feature is planned to be rolled out generally next month, they are currently gathering feedback and finalizing the product.
