SlowMist CISO: A new type of scam involving fake "2FA security verification" has appeared on MetaMask, tricking users into entering their seed phrases.
PANews reported on January 5 that SlowMist Chief Information Security Officer 23pds (Shange) issued a warning that a new type of scam has emerged on MetaMask, impersonating "2FA security verification" to trick users into entering their seed phrases. The fraudulent page uses a similar domain name to redirect users to a fake security alert and 2FA verification process, incorporating countdown timers and "authenticity verification" elements to increase credibility. In the final step, victims are asked to submit their wallet seed phrase in the "last step," resulting in asset theft.
Reminder: Seed phrases are only used for the initial import or recovery of a wallet; any web-based verification requests are considered high risk.
