Trump’s ongoing dispute with Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell could lead to an unexpected economic outcome
Possible Inflation Risks from Trump and Powell's Dispute
A renewed conflict between President Trump and Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell could have an unwelcome effect for both investors and consumers: a surge in inflation. According to Matt Stucky, chief portfolio manager of equities at Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management, "Over the longer term, there's a risk that inflation expectations could become unmoored," as he explained on Yahoo Finance's Opening Bid.
Although inflation expectations have recently declined, any erosion of confidence in the Fed's leadership could jeopardize that progress. For those looking to protect their investments, Stucky suggests considering real assets such as gold, as well as commodities and energy stocks, as effective hedges against rising inflation.
