A 46-year-old Russian woman fell victim to a "crypto" investment scam, selling three properties and taking on debt to raise funds.
BlockBeats News, January 13, a 46-year-old woman from Kursk, Russia, fell victim to a "high-yield cryptocurrency investment" scam and transferred 28 million rubles (approximately $357,400) to the fraudsters.
According to police disclosure, the scam lasted for about a year. The suspect approached the victim via messaging apps, claimed to reside in an Arab country, and lured her with promises of cryptocurrency investment and assistance in emigrating abroad, inducing her to download related applications and make continuous transfers. The victim successively sold three properties, a car, and gold bars, and even borrowed money, but after her funds were exhausted, the scammer disappeared. (Bitsmedia)
