Bessent: Treasury possesses sufficient funds to handle all potential tariff reimbursements
Treasury Confident in Handling Potential Tariff Refunds
Scott Bessent, the Treasury Secretary, has sought to reassure the public regarding concerns over the financial impact of President Donald Trump's tariff policies. He stated that the Treasury is fully capable of managing any potential tariff refunds that could result from ongoing legal proceedings or policy changes.
With the Supreme Court yet to deliver a verdict on the administration’s broadest tariff measures, there remains uncertainty about whether some tariffs may eventually be reversed. Despite this, Bessent emphasized that he considers large-scale refunds to be improbable and expressed confidence in the government's robust financial standing, indicating there is no need to tap into reserve funds.
