PeckShield: Crypto asset theft losses exceeded $4.04 billions in 2025, reaching a record high
PANews, January 13 – According to monitoring by PeckShield, in 2025, cryptocurrency-related thefts reached a historic high, mainly driven by systemic vulnerabilities in centralized infrastructure and a strategic shift towards targeted social engineering attacks.
Total losses in 2025 exceeded $4.04 billions, representing an increase of approximately 34.2% compared to the $3.01 billions stolen in 2024. This includes $2.67 billions lost to hacking attacks (an increase of about 24.2% year-on-year), and $1.37 billions lost to scams (an increase of about 64.2% year-on-year). Approximately $334.9 millions worth of stolen cryptocurrency has been recovered or frozen, compared to $488.5 millions in 2024.
