China Achieves Record-Breaking Trade Surplus
According to official reports released on Wednesday, China reached an unprecedented trade surplus of nearly $1.2 trillion last year, driven by a notable rise in exports during December.
Data from customs authorities revealed that the nation's global trade surplus expanded by 20% compared to the previous year. Total exports amounted to $3.77 trillion, while imports reached $2.58 trillion. In 2024, the trade surplus stood at $992 billion.
December saw Chinese exports climb by 6.6% year-over-year, surpassing analysts' forecasts and outpacing November's 5.9% annual growth. Imports also showed improvement, increasing by 5.7% in December compared to a 1.9% rise in November.
