Trump Nears Decision on Federal Reserve Chair Replacement
During an interview at the World Economic Forum in Davos, President Donald Trump revealed that he is close to selecting a new Federal Reserve Chair to succeed Jerome Powell. The search, which began in September and initially considered up to 11 potential candidates, has now been narrowed down significantly.
Speaking with CNBC’s Joe Kernen, Trump stated, “We’re probably down to three, maybe two, and honestly, I think I already have one person in mind.” However, he chose not to disclose the name of his preferred candidate. The pool of contenders has included both current and former officials from the Federal Reserve.
