Analysis: U.S. Initial Jobless Claims Show Little Change, Indicating Limited Layoffs
PANews, January 22 – According to Jinse Finance, the number of initial jobless claims in the United States changed little last week, remaining at a relatively low level compared to the previous volatile holiday season. According to data released by the U.S. Department of Labor on Thursday, for the week ending January 17, initial jobless claims increased by 1,000 to reach 200,000. Continuing jobless claims fell to 1.85 million last week, the lowest level since November. Typically, in the last few weeks of the year, initial jobless claims fluctuate, which is normal during the holiday period. However, the latest weekly data shows that the current labor market is still characterized by limited layoffs.
