Institution: TSMC is expected to cut 15%-20% of its mature process capacity by 2028

Glonghui, January 27|According to the Counterpoint monthly intelligence report on wafer foundry services, it is expected that by 2028, TSMC will cut the 12-inch mature process capacity of Fab14 by 15%-20%. The core purpose is to improve the structural underutilization of traditional process utilization rates, while reallocating resources to support the expansion of advanced packaging technology. Counterpoint's wafer foundry market supply tracking data shows that the core driver of this capacity adjustment is the continued sluggish utilization rate of the 40-90 nanometer process. TSMC has previously announced its strategic adjustment plan for the mature process capacity of its Fab14 plant.
