Manufacturing Output Experiences Decline in December 2025
Initial data released by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) indicate that, after accounting for seasonal and calendar effects, the manufacturing sector's real (price-adjusted) production dropped by 1.9% in December 2025 compared to the previous month. However, when looking at the broader period from October to December 2025, output was 0.9% higher than in the preceding three months, reflecting a more stable trend. The figures for November 2025 show a slight increase of 0.2% over October 2025, following an adjustment to earlier estimates (previously reported as a 0.8% rise). When compared to December 2024, production in December 2025 was 0.6% lower.
