Ethereum advances verification of zkEVM proof to confirm execution correctness
Show original
On February 10, Ethereum Foundation member ladislaus.eth stated that Ethereum is transitioning from nodes re-executing all transactions within a block to confirming execution correctness through verifying zkEVM proofs. This solution is supported by EIP-8025, allowing validators at the consensus layer to choose to verify multi-client zk proofs instead of running the full execution layer, without requiring mandatory upgrades or forks. This mechanism may reduce node hardware and synchronization costs, benefiting independent validators and home nodes, and lays the foundation for future L1 scaling, ePBS, and native Rollup. The Ethereum L1-zkEVM roadmap is targeted for 2026, with the first dedicated meeting to be held on February 11.
