HONG KONG — According to Thomas Lee, chairman of BitMine Immersion (BMRN), a company managing ether (ETH) reserves, the next major financial powerhouse may emerge not from traditional financial centers like Wall Street, but from platforms such as YouTube.

During his presentation at Consensus Hong Kong, Lee suggested that MrBeast’s recent foray into the banking sector could make the popular content creator a leading financial provider for Generation Z and Generation Alpha, as well as a significant entry point into the world of cryptocurrency.

Earlier this month, MrBeast’s company, which received a $200 million investment from BitMine earlier this year, announced its acquisition of the digital bank Step. This move is seen as a strategic bet on how younger generations will manage their finances in the future.

“Beast has the potential to become the defining financial institution for his generation,” Lee remarked.

He drew parallels to how Charles Schwab became synonymous with baby boomer investors, BlackRock and Blackstone attracted Generation X, and Robinhood appealed to Millennials.

Lee highlighted that Gen Z and Gen Alpha together make up approximately 120 million individuals in the United States, while MrBeast’s global following exceeds one billion people.

“While these users may not possess significant wealth today,” Lee observed, “they are poised to inherit substantial assets in the coming decade.”

Lee believes that if Step becomes the go-to financial platform for these younger generations, BitMine’s investment in MrBeast’s company could place them at the forefront of a demographic that naturally integrates digital assets into their financial lives.
