German wholesale prices in January 2026: up 1.2% compared to January 2025
Wholesale Prices See Notable Increase in Early 2026
In January 2026, wholesale prices climbed by 1.2% compared to the same month in 2025. This upward trend was consistent with December 2025, which also saw a 1.2% increase year-over-year, and November 2025, which recorded a 1.5% rise. According to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), wholesale prices in January 2026 were 0.9% higher than in December 2025.
The primary factor behind the annual growth in wholesale prices was a significant surge in the costs of non-ferrous ores, non-ferrous metals, and related semi-finished products. On average, these items were priced 43.8% higher in January 2026 than a year earlier.
