AMLBot predicts that 65% of cryptocurrency thefts in 2025 will be caused by social engineering
Show original
According to an AMLBot report, about two-thirds of cryptocurrency security incidents in 2025 will be driven by social engineering rather than technical vulnerabilities. Among the cases reviewed last year, 65% involved failures in access and response, including device compromise, weak authentication, and delayed detection. Investment scams accounted for the highest proportion of fraud cases at 25%; phishing accounted for 18%, and device compromise for 13%. In the past three months, attacks related to impersonation have resulted in at least $9 million in digital asset losses. AMLBot CEO Slava Demchuk pointed out that impersonation is the most destructive method in social engineering scams, and users should be alert to urgent requests involving fund transfers or wallet access.
