During the quarter, the independent oil and gas producer generated $705 million in revenue, which was below the $765.6 million forecasted by three analysts polled by Zacks.
For the full year, SM Energy posted a total profit of $648 million, translating to $5.64 per share, and reported annual revenue of $3.15 billion.
