Good Morning!

Here are the leading stories today:

  • Major cryptocurrencies extend their recovery, rising between 4% and 6%; Bitcoin trades at $68,200.
  • CRCL shares leap 35% after impressive Q4 results, fueled by the stablecoin surge.
  • A Mr. Beast staff member faces penalties and suspension from Kalshi for insider trading.
  • The Ethereum Foundation unveils an updated roadmap, outlining priorities through 2029.
  • Tether commits $200 million to Whop, enabling USDT payments on the platform.

💵 Circle’s Earnings Spark a Major Crypto Rally

Circle delivered outstanding quarterly results, riding the wave of stablecoin growth.

The broader cryptocurrency market also saw renewed momentum.

📌 Key Developments

Circle announced its Q4 earnings yesterday, surpassing expectations:

  • USDC in circulation reached $75.3 billion, a 72% increase year-over-year—nearly double their projected 40% growth.
  • Transaction volume soared to $11.9 trillion, up 247%.
  • Total revenue and reserve income hit $770 million, a 77% rise.
  • Adjusted EBITDA surged by 412%.

CRCL stock closed 35% higher at $83.

This strong performance ignited a rally across the crypto sector:

  • Bitcoin rebounded from $63,000 lows to nearly $69,000, gaining 7% in a day.
  • Ethereum climbed back to $2,075, up 12%.
  • Solana jumped 14% to $90.

Total liquidations reached $463 million, with over $400 million coming from short positions affecting more than 100,000 traders.

Crypto-related stocks also benefited, with Coinbase up 13% and Strategy rising 9%.

🗣️ Industry Commentary

Jeremy Allaire, during the earnings call, stated: “Tens or hundreds of billions of AI agents will interact and perform economic functions over the internet.”

Clear Street analysts told Decrypt: “The results reinforce ongoing USDC adoption, even as the broader crypto market remains subdued.”

🧠 Why This Matters

Circle’s exceptional Q4 results position the company for continued growth.

With $75 billion in USDC circulating—a 72% increase—even as the overall crypto market is down over 30% from its highs, stablecoin adoption is diverging from the performance of major cryptocurrencies.

On-chain dollar movement continues regardless of Bitcoin’s price direction.

Circle stands to benefit from future developments, such as Meta’s planned stablecoin integration across Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram.

Additionally, the GENIUS Act regulatory framework won’t take effect until November 2026, indicating this is just the start of a larger trend.

While it’s unclear if the crypto bear market has ended, several indicators suggest the market may be near its bottom. These include the Jane Street lawsuit, MSTR being the most shorted stock, extended periods of extreme fear, and technical patterns such as 23 months since the last all-time high—historically a bottoming signal.

Nvidia’s strong earnings suggest the AI rally and broader equity markets remain robust, removing another potential obstacle for crypto’s recovery.

Market conditions are favorable for a crypto rebound—time will tell if it materializes.
