US and Israel's attack on Iran raises security concerns, S&P Global Platts assesses feasibility of Middle Eastern crude oil deliveries

(1) S&P Global Platts Energy Information stated that, given the recent attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran which have sharply worsened regional security, the agency is assessing the feasibility of delivering crude oil from Middle Eastern Gulf ports. (2) In a statement, Platts Energy noted that market participants have informed the agency that, following the airstrike on February 28, 2026, major shipping companies have suspended transportation through the Strait of Hormuz due to extreme security concerns. As a result, Platts has initiated the relevant assessment procedures. (3) The agency also stated that further guidance on how to assess performance expectations for bids and offers in the Dubai partials futures and Middle East crude oil Platts closing price assessment process will be provided in another user notice to be released at 06:00 GMT (14:00 Beijing time).
