Spain: The number of unemployed rose by 3,584 in February, reaching 2,442,646 overall—this is the smallest figure recorded for February since 2008.
Unemployment Figures for February
At the close of February, the State Public Employment Service (SEPE) reported an increase of 3,584 individuals registered as unemployed compared to January, marking a 0.15% rise. Despite this monthly uptick, the total number of people without work now stands at 2,442,646—the lowest figure recorded for February since 2008.
When compared to February of the previous year, unemployment has dropped by 150,803 individuals, representing a 5.81% decrease. After adjusting for seasonal variations, the number of registered unemployed declined by 3,718.
Unemployment by Sector
- The Construction sector saw a reduction of 2,140 unemployed people, a decrease of 1.23% from January.
- In the Industrial sector, unemployment dropped by 1,122 individuals, down 0.59% month-on-month.
