Italian inflation data - February 2026
Italian Consumer Price Index Rises in February 2026
Initial figures indicate that Italy's national consumer price index (NIC) increased by 0.8% in February 2026 compared to the previous month, and rose by 1.6% year-over-year—an uptick from January's 1.0% annual growth.
This higher inflation rate was largely driven by notable price increases in several sectors: transportation services surged from 0.7% to 3.0%, services related to recreation, repairs, and personal care climbed from 3.0% to 4.9%, and unprocessed food prices went up from 2.5% to 3.6%.
Conversely, some categories saw slower price growth or declines. Processed foods, including alcoholic beverages, eased from 1.9% to 1.7%, and regulated energy products continued their downward trend.
