CENTA Shows Promising Technical Momentum

Central Garden & Pet Company (CENTA) has recently attracted attention from technical analysts, as the stock has reached a significant support level. Notably, the company's 50-day simple moving average has just surpassed its 200-day simple moving average—a formation commonly referred to as a "golden cross."

The golden cross is a popular signal among traders because it often suggests the potential for a strong upward price move. This pattern occurs when a stock’s short-term moving average overtakes its long-term moving average, with the 50-day and 200-day averages being the most widely watched. Longer timeframes like these are typically associated with more robust trend shifts.

There are three main phases to a golden cross that investors monitor. First, the stock experiences a downward trend that eventually stabilizes. Next, the shorter moving average rises above the longer one, signaling a possible reversal. Finally, the stock continues to climb, confirming the new upward trend.

In contrast, a "death cross" is the inverse of this pattern and is often seen as a warning of potential downward movement.

Over the past month, CENTA’s share price has advanced by 8.9%, suggesting that a breakout could be imminent. Additionally, the stock currently holds a #2 (Buy) rating from Zacks Rank.

Examining CENTA’s earnings outlook further supports the positive sentiment. In the last 60 days, analysts have made three upward revisions to earnings estimates for the current quarter, with no downward changes. The Zacks Consensus Estimate has also increased during this period.
