Commerzbank: Oil and gas prices dominate bond market volatility, market continues to focus on Middle East conflict
Show original
Golden Ten Data reported on March 4 that Hauke Siemssen, interest rate strategist at Commerzbank, stated in a report that energy price trends continue to dominate volatility in the bond market, with oil and gas prices playing a decisive role. "With almost no other disruptive factors on today's economic agenda, the market focus is expected to remain on the impact of the Iran war," he pointed out. He noted that the recent simultaneous decline of German government bonds, US Treasuries, and UK government bonds alongside the stock market is similar to market performance during previous crises. This pattern reflects that, in the current environment, central banks in various countries still need to focus their policy priorities on inflation, while safe assets in the market are no longer scarce.
