Robust growth observed in the UK's service sector
UK Services Sector Sees Continued Growth in February
February saw another increase in business activity among UK service providers, driven by a steady improvement in demand. Despite this growth, employment levels declined for the seventeenth month in a row, influenced in part by rising business costs putting pressure on profit margins. To offset these higher expenses, companies raised their prices once again.
The seasonally adjusted S&P Global UK Services PMI Business Activity Index reached 53.9 in February, remaining close to January’s five-month peak of 54.0. The index has consistently stayed above the 50.0 threshold, which signals expansion, every month since May 2025.
