Russia's "shadow fleet" suffers first deep-sea ambush

Golden Ten Data reported on March 4 that, according to information from the Russian Ministry of Transport, a liquefied natural gas tanker under US sanctions was attacked in the Mediterranean Sea. The Russian Ministry of Transport posted on Telegram that the tanker named "Arctic Metagaz" was attacked by a Ukrainian drone near Malta's territorial waters. This is the first time a liquefied natural gas tanker from Russia's "shadow fleet" has become a target of attack. Based on ship tracking data analysis, including the "Arctic Metagaz," at least 16 vessels are currently assisting in transporting sanctioned Russian liquefied natural gas overseas.
