Golden Ten Data reported on March 4 that due to hostile actions in the Middle East disrupting the supply of a key raw material—Qatar liquefied natural gas—India's fertilizer manufacturers have begun to reduce production. According to sources, some producers, including the Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative, have started to lower output at certain urea plants. The sources added that any prolonged supply interruption could force companies to shut down factories, but provided no further details. Liquefied natural gas is the primary raw material for producing urea, serving both as an energy source and as a crucial input for manufacturing this most widely used fertilizer. A senior official from India's Ministry of Fertilizers stated that the government is continuously monitoring the geopolitical situation, and currently there is no shortage in gas supply, but he did not comment on the reduction in urea production.
