The S&P 500 index rose more than 0.4%, the Dow Jones increased over 0.3%, the Nasdaq climbed about 0.9%, the semiconductor index gained 1.3%, and the banking index was up 0.5%. The yield on the US 2-year Treasury note expanded by 2.5 basis points, approaching the intraday high of 3.5370%.
