Golden Ten Data reported on March 6 that, according to data from the Fraunhofer Institute, Germany's solar power generation in March has been exceptionally strong. Despite the global energy cost surge driven by the Middle East conflict, this has helped stabilize electricity prices. At noon on Friday, Germany's installed solar capacity will deliver more than 40 gigawatts of electricity to the public grid for the fifth consecutive day. In contrast, last March only saw four days reach this level of generation. ANE meteorologist and power trader Stephan Späth stated: "In the short term, high solar output does indeed suppress prices. Not only is Germany experiencing sunny weather, but so are its neighboring countries." As the escalation of the Middle East conflict causes energy prices to soar, domestic power generation that does not rely on imported commodities has become increasingly important. In particular, renewable energy can act as a buffer, alleviating what could have been even more severe and dramatic price shocks for consumers and industry. Solar energy is Germany's second largest source of electricity after wind power. In 2025, renewable energy will account for about 56% of the country's total electricity consumption.
