Moelis & Company reported adjusted earnings of $1.13 per share for the fourth quarter of 2025, significantly exceeding the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $0.76. Despite this beat, earnings were down 4% compared to the same period last year.

The company benefited from higher revenues and increased other income, alongside maintaining a strong liquidity position. However, rising expenses weighed on results. Net income under GAAP was $87.9 million, slightly below the $89.4 million reported a year earlier.

For the full year 2025, adjusted earnings reached $2.99 per share, topping the consensus estimate of $2.61 and marking a 64% increase from the previous year. Annual net income (GAAP) was $233 million, up from $136 million in 2024.

Revenue and Expense Trends

Quarterly total revenues (GAAP) climbed 11% year-over-year to $487.9 million, beating the consensus estimate of $428.6 million. For the entire year, revenues grew 27% to $1.52 billion, also surpassing expectations.

Operating expenses for the quarter rose 17% from the prior year to $359.9 million, driven by higher compensation and non-compensation costs. This exceeded the projected $346.3 million. Other income reached $10 million, a 65% increase year-over-year, outpacing the anticipated $7.9 million.

As of December 31, 2025, Moelis held $848.8 million in cash and liquid investments, with no outstanding debt or goodwill on its balance sheet.

Share Buyback Activity

During the quarter, Moelis repurchased 700,000 shares at an average price of $62.96 each.
