Fed's Schmid notes that recruitment has stalled due to AI and an aging workforce
AI's Impact on Hiring and Workforce Trends
On Friday, Jeff Schmid, President of the Kansas City Federal Reserve, remarked that the rise of artificial intelligence is prompting some companies to reconsider their hiring strategies. At the same time, demographic shifts caused by an aging workforce are bringing about significant changes in the job market.
Schmid explained, "With current fiscal policies and the ongoing retirement of the baby boomer generation, we're witnessing a fundamental transformation. Artificial intelligence introduces many new factors, and as a result, many organizations are choosing to pause before bringing on new employees. They're taking this time to assess which skills will be most valuable moving forward."
