Amazon increases investment in medical AI, launches Connect Health tools for patients and doctors
BlockBeats News, March 7, according to Bloomberg, Amazon's cloud computing division is launching AI tools aimed at healthcare institutions, marking the company's latest attempt to expand its cloud computing business into workplace applications.
Amazon Connect Health can generate medical records from real-time conversations between doctors and patients, automatically add billing, symptom, and procedure codes, and summarize health data from existing medical records. The tool is also designed to help patients verify their identity with healthcare providers and schedule and manage medical appointments.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) Chief Medical Officer Dr. Rowland Illing stated: "We know the healthcare industry is completely overwhelmed by administrative complexity."
Microsoft, Google parent company Alphabet Inc., Oracle, and several startups are also investing in developing AI tools to streamline healthcare management processes.
