Baltic Dry Bulk Freight Index rises as Capesize vessel freight index climbs

Golden Ten Futures, March 9 – On Monday, the Baltic Dry Index rose, ending a three-day losing streak, driven by an increase in capesize vessel rates. The Baltic Dry Index increased by 56 points, or 2.8%, to 2,066 points. The capesize vessel index rose by 204 points, or 7.8%, to 2,835 points. Average daily earnings for capesize vessels increased by $1,852 to $22,207. The panamax vessel index fell by 48 points, or 2.5%, to 1,914 points. Average daily earnings for panamax vessels decreased by $433 to $17,223. The supramax bulk carrier index dropped by 13 points, or 0.9%, to 1,373 points.
