Iran Issues Warning: Oil Exports from the Middle East Will Cease Unless U.S. and Israeli Strikes End
Iran Threatens to Halt Middle East Oil Exports Amid Ongoing Attacks
Iran has declared that it will block all oil exports from the Middle East unless the United States and Israel cease their military actions against the country. This announcement follows President Trump's recent comments predicting a swift end to the conflict, which triggered a sharp drop in oil prices from their earlier highs.
According to a spokesperson for the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, "We will be the ones to decide when the conflict ends," as reported by Reuters.
This warning came after President Trump issued statements threatening even harsher military action if Iran continues to obstruct oil shipments from the region.
On TruthSocial, the U.S. president stated, "If Iran interferes with oil movement through the Strait of Hormuz, the United States will respond with force far greater than anything seen so far," referencing a potential escalation in response to any disruption.
Trump further warned that the U.S. would target vulnerable sites in Iran, making recovery for the nation nearly impossible, and described the potential consequences as "Death, Fire, and Fury." He expressed hope that such measures would not be necessary, noting that uninterrupted oil flow benefits countries like China and other major importers.
Currently, the situation remains deadlocked. The recent downturn in oil prices, prompted by Trump's remarks about a possible quick resolution, led to a sell-off that pushed Brent crude and WTI below $100 per barrel. However, if the Strait of Hormuz stays closed, prices could begin to rise again, albeit at a slower pace, especially if the U.S. eases sanctions for certain countries.
