Bangladesh confirms applying soporary waiver from the US to purchase Russian oil: Bangladesh should receive the same treatment as India

Golden Ten Data reported on March 12 that, according to foreign media, Bangladesh's Minister of Finance and Planning, Amir Hussain Mahmud Chowdhury, confirmed that this request was made during talks with US officials, which also covered broader issues such as energy cooperation, investment, and trade. "India has already received a temporary exemption to purchase Russian oil. We have indicated that if India can obtain such an opportunity, Bangladesh should also be entitled to it," Chowdhury stated after meeting with the US Ambassador to Bangladesh. "Our economy needs strong support, and they (the US side) said they would forward the request to Washington. Let's wait and see."
