Baltic Dry Bulk Freight Index rises as Capesize vessel rates increase

Golden Ten Data Futures reported on March 12 that the Baltic Dry Index rose due to an increase in capesize vessel freight rates. The Baltic Dry Index increased by 46 points, or 2.4%, to 1972 points compared to the previous trading day. The capesize vessel index rose by 147 points, or 5.7%, to 2721 points. The average daily earnings for capesize vessels increased by $1,330 to $21,173. The panamax vessel index rose by 4 points, or 0.2%, to 1835 points. The average daily earnings for panamax vessels increased by $37 to $16,516. The supramax vessel index fell by 22 points, or 1.7%, to 1290 points.
