US Consumer Sentiment Experiences Slight Decline in March
According to preliminary data released by the University of Michigan on Friday, the Consumer Sentiment Index in the United States dropped by 1.9% in March compared to February, reaching 55.5. On a year-over-year basis, this represents a 2.6% decrease.
The Current Economic Conditions Index rose 2.1% from the previous month, standing at 57.8, but was still 9.4% lower than in March 2025. Meanwhile, the Index of Consumer Expectations saw a 4.4% monthly decline, yet improved by 2.9% compared to the previous year, coming in at 54.1.
The report noted that interviews conducted before the recent military developments in Iran reflected some improvement in sentiment.
