Unlike the traditional binary payout limitation of "yes or no," this framework introduces a three-dimensional payout model, including a $0 payout, a "partial payout" within a specific range, and a $100 full payout, allowing traders to profit even if their direction is correct but they do not hit the target precisely. Cboe plans to launch the first related product—the Mini S&P 500 Index (Mini-SPX) prediction market contract—on the Cboe Options Exchange in the second quarter of 2026. This product will be securitized, centrally cleared by OCC, and settled in cash. Cboe stated that the contract mechanism is similar to the vertical spread strategy in options, aiming to provide retail traders with tools that have clear risk and greater flexibility.
