Zelensky: Ukrainian and US Teams to Hold Talks on the Possibility of Peace Negotiations with Russia
According to a report by Jinse Finance, citing CCTV News, on August 25 local time, Ukrainian President Zelensky met with visiting Norwegian Prime Minister Støre. At the joint press conference following their meeting, Zelensky stated that he would meet with U.S. Special Envoy for Ukraine Affairs Kellogg, who is currently visiting Ukraine. The Ukrainian side will also hold talks with the U.S. team this weekend to discuss the possibility of peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. Zelensky noted that the Ukrainian team is in close contact with the United States and other parties. Once a basic framework for security guarantees for Ukraine is reached among all parties, Ukraine will consult with the U.S. to determine whether Russia is prepared to hold talks. He also mentioned that Norway has joined the plan to purchase weapons from the United States, and Ukraine hopes to receive at least $1 billion in support from this plan each month. At the press conference, Støre said that Norway and Germany have provided Ukraine with two sets of Patriot air defense systems and supporting missiles to help Ukraine counter drone and missile attacks. He also plans to propose to the Norwegian parliament an $8.5 billion aid package for Ukraine next year.
